So I have a thing with white lately. White pants, white dresses, white blazers. I just can't get enough! It's amazing how such a plain color can make a such a bold statement. I'm loving it with these cobalt blue jeans. Also, these heels are just for show. Definitely wearing flats after my workout. Ouch!

Great Hair Day
Happy Wednesday friends! I was having just the best hair today. I told myself take your outfit pictures before lunch because you are going to the gym at lunch and your magical hair will be ruined. Well I forgot until the last minute and all of my photographers were no where to be seen. So I went over to the gym thinking bun it is! The hair gods smiled upon me though. I put it in a ponytail at the gym and when I took it down ta da! Perfect hair! How could this be?! Should I buy a lottery ticket? Is it one of those days?? I don't want to seem like a braggart or anything but does this hair look like it went to the gym? I'm still amazed.

Challenge Accepted
Ok, I'm going to admit it. I'm have been in a rut. I fashion rut. And I blame the weather. But really, if I was a true "fashionista" I would totally rise up to the challenge and be super creative despite the weather. Well, friends that's what happened today. I said screw you weather! I'm gonna wear a sundress and you're gonna like it! So starting today I'm embracing whatever mother nature throws at me and I'm gonna throw a cute outfit right back at her! To start out I am wearing a white sundress today. The last time I wore this dress is was June and like 85 degrees. You maybe thinking brrrrrr but when you throw on cozy scarf, tights, and a cardi you stay nice and toasty warm. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy this outfit. And the revelation basically doubled my wardrobe. Katie- 1 Mother Nature- 0.

Non-Spring Spring
Oh, hi there. Remember me? The girl that hasn't done a blog post in a WHOLE week! I don't even have a good excuse! Sometimes you just don't want to take pictures. And that's totally ok.
So life update. St. Patrick's day happened. We celebrated on Saturday and ended up at an empty heavy metal bar and played pool all day. It was exactly the way I wanted to spend the day. Also, I'm mildly good at pool. Who knew? Must have been that pool table in my grandparent's basement. This whole week has just been dragging. The sad part is I'm so busy too! Like, that's not supposed to happen. Dragging and slow. Busy and fast. That's how it's supposed to be! Come tomorrow and gonna scream from the rooftops TGIF!!!
Guys, it's cold in Chicago. Like extra cold. Like it should never be this cold even when it's supposed to be winter cold. I absolutely loathe it. Where are you spring? Why are you letting winter walk all over you?! Man up! Own your season! I have become completely bored with my wardrobe because of all this nasty weather. I need pastels, and florals, and neons! Instead my outfit is jewel toned, black, and leopard print. That is NOT springy. Sigh. Mother Nature and I are gonna have to have a little chat.

Transitions
Hello there! Hope everyone is having a great week. Mine seems to be going by pretty fast but maybe that's because I took Monday off? Either way, it's good. This weekend is a BIG weekend in Chicago. St. Patty's day! And I have no plans at all. See, usually my friend Ally has a big party and we just go to that and it's always super fun. Well, Ally is in Boston so that means no party this year. What's a girl to do?! We will figure something out. I do have a girl date planned in Boystown. That sounds like an oxymoron. Dancing until our faces melt off will happen. Or at least our make-up.
Does this skirt look slightly familiar? That's because I wore the same one in a different color here. I saw it in Target on sale yesterday. Who can resist polka dots on sale? This is yet again another transitional piece. It looks great with a sweater and tights in the winter but come spring/summer there will be bare legs, wedges, and maybe I'll go nuts and put a crop top on with it?! The possibilities are endless! But seriously, can it just be spring now? Thanks.
It's not really 11:00. Just realized this clock is broken :( |

Chambray and Ioway
Hi friends! I'm back from a lovely weekend in Iowa. I got to meet baby Ivory, see my friend Megan and get my hair done! The weather was not pleasant but that's about the only thing that wasn't. Here are some highlights!

So yesterday I was sick. And I think it might have been from exhaustion. One too many late nights in a row and then waking up at 3:30AM to catch a plane will really catch up with you. After plenty of naps and good nights rest I am back to normal. SO normal in fact, I busted out my pleather leggings today! I was a little cautious getting these but now I think they are going to be a wardrobe staple. They are like regular leggings but like WAY cooler. The selling point, they are extremely comfy! Who knew? Speaking of comfy, this boyfriend chambray shirt is so soft. If you are in the market for a good chambray shirt look no further then Madewell. They come in all shapes and colors. I have my eye one this one too. One can never have too many chambray shirts.

Friday Fun
Hey there! It's Friday. The most glorious day of the week! I've been a little MIA this week but I feel like I've just been so BUSY. Today is the day. I am going to Iowa for the weekend. I double checked my tickets. I'm booked for the right day. My bags are packed. I even made Nick food to eat for the weekend with out me. I AM PREPARED! Nothing is going to stop me now! Unless TSA decides so throw out a bunch of my products and make me choose which shampoo and lotions I like more than the others. It's really hard to decide. It's happened. My poor, poor self tanner just tossed away in front of me at the Dallas airport. Heartbreaking.
My outfit pictures are from yesterday. I know, I'm totally cheating. I just didn't have time to post yesterday. We had a flip-cup party for one of my bosses at work. Yes, flip cup at work. Needless to say I was a wee bit rusty. One Flip Nelson was having some issues. Maybe because I'm not a Nelson anymore? Still, we had a great time. After that Nick and I went out for a little date since I would be gone for the weekend. We hit up Big Star. It's a taco joint in Wicker Park and my goodness it's tasty. We came home to find out Loki really likes footwear. My favorite cat slippers were demolished. Yes, I can see the irony in that. He also somehow managed to slip off his collar and chew that apart. The dog is a chewer. So a new collar is needed for Loki and I am in desperate need of new cat slippers.

Birthday
Guess whose birthday it was yesterday?! MINE!!! I had such a lovely birthday weekend! And I'm still celebrating with drinks after work with my work gals! Woot!
My weekend kicked off with a double date with one of Nick's friends and his lady friend on Friday night. We started the night off at the Boarding House for drinks. It was beautiful! The whole ceiling of the first floor is a wine glass chandelier. So pretty. The drinks were great too. Then we headed to the Paris Club for dinner. As always it was delish. And Nick even ate escargot! If you know Nick you know this is a BIG deal. We ended the night at a neighborhood bar but didn't stay out too late because I had to be up early for Dance Marathon! What an experience! I'm so glad I was able to do this. It was physically and emotionally draining but it was so worth it. I will definitely be back next year. My parents came back from Aruba and on Sunday we had brunch at Nellcote. This place was also beautiful and the food was amazing. After brunch we went shopping (my favorite) and then came back home and had Whole Foods pizza and cake. All in all it was a marvelous weekend! Here are some highlights!

Back to the grind after all the birthday fun. At least I have something new to wear everyday this week thanks to my shopping spree with mom and dad! I'm so spoiled. At least I know it. That makes it kind of ok right? And holy cow. I need a some sun! Anyone want to A. Buy be a tropical vacation or B. recommend a good sunless tanning lotion? Both would be much appreciated!
